the world a better place!

Humanworx Logo

Humanworx makes the world a better place in three impactful and meaningful ways:
Bursaries: By providing 100 % study bursaries for financially disadvantaged and qualifying students in studies for qualifications in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE).
Making children and humans smarter: By launching and managing exciting and revolutionary projects and research in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) centres on learnable intelligence, habits of mind and a growth mindset and making children and adults smarter and more successful.
Entrepreneurship: By training, supporting and coaching future entrepreneurs with the aim of creating successful entrepreneurs, employment creation and many more successful startups and new businesses.

In addition to student bursaries for studying Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) Humanworx manages Early Childhood Education (ECD) training and projects in ECD centres and is doing exciting and revolutionary research on making humans smarter and more successful in life with the “Future Bright” research project. Humanworx addresses critical issues highlighted by the South African results of the Progress in International Reading Literacy Study (PIRLS) that assesses reading comprehension.
Humanworx is invested in and promotes startup and entrepreneur training, coaching, and business opportunities through its “Upstart “programme, which provides coaching, training, support, and coaching for high school learners and students in their journey to becoming thriving entrepreneurs.

About Us

Humanworx Study Bursaries: Many poor but deserving students have no opportunity at post-school studies, simply because they can’t afford it. Humanworx invests in 100 % bursaries with the greatest potential of returns on human capital and empowerment namely: pre-school /early childhood education. We aim to source and provide at least 500 deserving students annually with 100 % bursaries to study a QCTO-accredited Early Childhood Education and Care qualification. These students are all unqualified previously disadvantaged women who are currently working in Early Childhood Care and Education or want to open an ECCE centre. Humanworx not only provides the bursaries but also trains these women with business and entrepreneurial skills and assists them in the registration of their pre-school centre at the Department of Social Development. (DSD).
As little as $1000 USD sponsors and empowers one student to complete a professional and QCTO accredited qualification and become financially independent, an entrepreneur in her own right and provide employment opportunities for other African women. The educational, social and financial impact, benefit and gains of training and empowering 500 women annually to have fully functional ECD centres are immense.

Future Bright Project: The” Future Bright” project aims to answer one question: “Can children and humans become smarter and more successful?” A lot of previous global research confirms that this is indeed possible. Humanworx has designed a “secret sauce and recipe” and is applying that research and insight in the South African and early childhood care and education (ECCE) context. Children can indeed become much smarter and much more successful over time with the right kind of educational, mindset life skills and thinking interventions. But wait, there is more: global research projects proved that these mental and skills benefits are long-lasting and cause lifelong benefits for the participants. Humanworx has employed an educational psychologist for this research and aims to publish the replicable results to scale the Humanworx “Future Bright” intervention programme and benefit many more early childhood care and education centres. If you want to affiliate or become part of this exciting and life-changing project, please contact us at info@humanworxngo.co.za    Imagine the real life and societal impact of having many, many more South African “Future Brights” in the next 10 years. We can make the world a better place for so many children.

Upstart©: South Africa has one of the highest global unemployment rates at close to 40 %. To exacerbate this challenge the South African youth not in education, employment or training (NEET) rate has been consistently over 30% and it has worsened over the past ten years. The young NEETs are a heterogeneous group that is predominantly female, black, slightly older youth (20-24), reside in urban areas, live in income poverty and have less than, or only, a matric or matric equivalent. Most young NEETs are unemployed (43.9% are searching for unemployed and 24.4% are discouraged job seekers) and just under a third (31.7%) are inactive (i.e., ‘disengaged’ from the labour market). A large proportion of searching unemployed NEETs are new entrants into the labour market and many of them have been looking for work for extended periods without success.
Being socially and economically excluded ‘socially excluded’ youth and unemployed destroys dreams and breaks the human spirit with its deep sense of hopelessness. The Humanworx response to this was to create the “Upstart©” programme, which is a combination of entrepreneurship skills training, new venture support, a start-up incubator and a friendly version of the “shark tank” to train, equip and create successful entrepreneurs. These entrepreneurs will become employers and positively contribute to the economy and our country’s employment demands. There is an application and selection process for high school learners and students, and only accepted and qualifying candidates will have free access to the “Upstart©” skills and training programme. Successful applicants will also complete a formal QCTO-accredited Short Learning Programme in “New Venture Creation” or “Technopreneurs” for FREE.  Upstart© will annually host its friendly version of the “Shark Tank” event called the “Guppy Tank” to get these young entrepreneurs empowered with skills coaching, opportunities for financing and their product and services market-ready.
